The Birth of Baba & Kız Atelier with Ece Marangoz. I am Ece Marangoz. The heart of my designs beats in Baba & Kız Atelier in Ayvalık. This atelier is the centre of sustainable production and manual labour, where paper and cardboard waste comes to life again. I learnt the passion of giving a second life to materials from my father at a young age. Growing up among hands that repair what is broken and transform what is discarded inspired me on my journey today. With the tradition of craftsmanship carried by our surname Marangoz, inherited from our grandfather, my father and I established this creation space. Today, in my atelier; I design original lighting, objects and coffee tables shaped by hand workmanship by turning paper and cardboard waste, which are sometimes ignored, into pulp. Each product tells a story where recycling, labour and creativity meet. The main purpose of my designs is to add spirit to living spaces with natural, timeless and meaningful pieces.
